A Movement Towards Health Care Reform

Below highlights two examples of how Casel’s model of care is transforming health care.

Transforming Hepatitis C Care

Several years ago, our network of physicians and affiliate sites approached our leadership team about developing a client-centered approach to hepatitis C screening, assessment and treatment. Our physicians and affiliate sites were finding service users were not doing well within traditional hepatitis C treatment programs. These programs are typically heavily regimented. They require service users to travel to unfamiliar clinics or hospitals, and complete blood work and attend medical appointments at set times. If service users were unable to meet these strict requirements, treatment was not offered.

We strongly believed there was a need to alter this traditional approach to a client-centered approach in order to improve accessibility to care and treatment outcomes, and we were right.

Using Telemedicine to Enhance and Expand Medical Access

At Casel, we believe that our telemedicine approach exceeds the care offered through the traditional face-to-face models. With face-to-face care, services are almost always designed around times and locations that are most convenient for the providers, not the service users.

Casel’s approach is different. Our telemedicine model allows us to offer both providers and service users far more flexibility and choice around service delivery. For example, some of our affiliate sites have decided to offer both conventional face-to-face services on some days and telemedicine services on others. We have found our telemedicine service hours are typically busier than our face-to-face service hours.
